Scrch Scrch
 Gonna be a Cop.
I hope your monitor sucks, because these are barely the colors I did.  Pretend you can tell Neil is white knuckling, and that the black background is solid.  Enough whining.  I realized when I drew this (since I mentioned it is a true story) that when I was told "and then the cop put the joint out on the hood of ____'s car" it was a lot more exciting than drawing it.
Anyway, next week we get back to Moonlighting (if all goes well).  Get ready for minimum color again!  The way things are going I probably will not have copies of issue 2 at MoCCA, but people at my job said they'd help make the minis, so if I get the pages done, get your money ready!  I also am thinking of investing in a button maker, so get your backpacks, messenger bags, hats, whatever ready for that too.  I uh... I really have nothing more to say.  Wish me luck.

Taking Over Pop
Until now I've kept this just for my comics, but I thought I'd do something a little different today while you wait for the last page of the Neil bumper.

I just saw Jessie J's new single and I thought it was good, but more importantly I noticed that people who have in the past written for others (in this case pop artists) and not gotten the spotlight themselves have been coming out and taking pop back.  Back in the day bands and performers wrote their own music most of the time, or at least made it more obvious when giving credit, but then pop came along and the face was more important than who wrote it or who corrected the tone on the album.  I wasn't for Lady Gaga at first (I've since been converted) but from the start I did respect that she knows how to play instruments, writes her music (and music for others), and that while she's hot, she's not Hollywood hot.  Jessie J also wrote songs and is in that same category the writer coming forward.

I also noticed that these two women (point out more to me if you know of any, because I'm obviously in to it) seem to have more classically masculine traits (confidence, power, etc.  I won't go into Gaga packing) which I'm pleased to see.  I'm sick of pop being about women as objects (see every Rihanna video ever), and while I'm not huge into pop I do get drawn to it when things like this come out.  I think there is a connection between having more power over your work/knowing what you're doing and having that be plain to see in your performances.  I've also noticed that while the women are plainly in power in their videos (even the Paparazzi video where Gaga is in a wheelchair), they're still pretty plainly sexualized.  I have the feeling that this is voluntary, but it's interesting that women in power need to back it up with being hot.  I also noticed that that's not necessary in Hollywood when it comes to men (example: The Dilemma comes to mind), but that is a different conversation for a different time.

Basically I am pro this movement of writers becoming performers as well and I hope it continues.  It is good for the music industry and for gender equality and I'm interested to see how it progresses.
Here's Jessie J's video:

True Story...
 I can taste it...
Wow, The last one was pretty much the same when it scanned, but with this one I promise the background doesn't look that shitty.  Also, the officer is pinker in the original, because he is sunburned.  Like I said, I'm getting photoshop again soon so I will fix these when that happens and then I won't have excuses.
More importantly, next week is the 4/4 of the Neil side story then it's back to our regularly scheduled Moonlighting!!

I did mention this is based on a real story, right?  Friend of a friend.

As a reward for waiting MONTHS for me to do jack shit, I decided to share some Marvel parody comics with you guys.  Characters are (c) Marvel (except Gypsy), but this being a parody I can do whatever I want.

Let's bang.

I think the phrase "I totally am" is some of the best writing I've ever done.

For the record, Gypsy is not objecting, she just meows like that.  I believe we addressed this on hourly comic day last year.  When is that anyway?  Also, I prefer to call Wolverine Wafflerine.  I'll figure out a punchline for that one day.

The Inevitable Return of the Great White Dope

Feelin' the green

So yeah.  This scan is complete shit.  I'm going to work on tweaking some things on my computer (and getting photoshop) and hopefully I'll repost with a better image sooner rather than later.  Either way FUCK GUYS!  I am officially back!

My goal is to do three pages a week (not post three, but finish them) and if I do that then I should be able to print book 2 for MoCCA!  Wish me luck, and if you're one of the people who sees me in person regularly, give me a reminder until I punch you in the face.

He-heeeey guys...
So, I know it's been a long time, but Moonlighting will be back soon.  It's been a really bad few months for me, but my most valid excuse is that my computer died (completely) and I'm in the process of building a new one (which in turn had a few minor disasters).  I finished thumbs for Moonlighting issue two and I'm almost done inking pages two and three (of four) of the Neil side story.  I should be able to start coloring them tonight.  Expect an unrelated comic sometime this week (if I can steal my roommate's computer) and hopefully page two of Neil next week.

I have applied for a table at MoCCA again and am just awaiting confirmation, so I'll give you more info on that when I get it.  I'm planning on having a few more people again, so I'll link to their work when I'm sure who will be where.

Sorry again, guys, things have been rough, but I'm really pleased with where the story's going, and one of my favorite creatures is the featured monster in this story (though fighting is, unfortunately, sort of minimal).  Wish me luck, and alert your friends who have given up on me that there will be new content soon!

I was in a book!
Okay, so first off an illustration I did was featured in a book called Seduction of the Innocent.  It's a bunch of art about sexy ladies and nerdy things.  You should check it out:
Second, more delays.  I know... I know.  Things have been crazy, though.  I think I finally found a new apartment, and once I move in I'll get back on a regular schedule.  Theoretically.  Until then, you will just have to enjoy our boys and their patriotism.

Aaaand we're back!

So here we are!  Full color and Neil in all his glory.  What else could you want?  The other three pages?  Let's say two-ish weeks for the next one.  I hope.

Hey, guys.  Sorry I've been scarce lately.  The bad news is that there's no comic yet.  The good news is twofold: firstly, the comic should be up not this coming Saturday if things keep this pace, but the next; also, it's going to be done in watercolor.  I figure I've kept you guys waiting long enough and since this is a short story (four pages) I'm going to push myself.  There is some more bad news, though.  I lost my thumbnails for chapter two.  After this four pager there will be another break, because I have to redo all of those before anything else can happen.

Anyway, hopefully I'll see you guys in two weeks!

So here it is.  The last page of chapter one.

Things have gone from bad to worse for me over the last week.  I'm not sure when I'll be able to finish the bumper, and I'm still not as far as I'd like to be in the thumbs for chapter two.  I guess just hold on for a while and wait for an update.  I'm sorry I have to do this, but I don't really know what else to do.

See you soon, hopefully.
